British film, TV and video game composer Stephen Baysted is well known for his versatility and for his emotionally charged, expressive and powerful music. He graduated from Southampton University where he gained a BA and an MMus in Music and Composition, and from Dartington College of Arts where he was awarded a PhD.
Stephen is Composer and Audio Director for UK game development studio Slightly Mad Studios Ltd. and over the past decade he has built up an enviable profile in the industry, having scored a string of award winning AAA games. He has written the music for over 30 cinema, television and radio advertisements, including notable campaigns for Budweiser, McDonalds and Pizza Hut and works with leading publishers and music libraries on sync projects. Stephen enjoys collaborating closely with directors and producers to help them achieve their artistic and aesthetic vision.
In 2010 Stephen was nominated for two Motion Picture Sound Editors ‘Golden Reel’ Awards and a Game Audio Network Guild Award for his ground-breaking work on Electronic Arts' Need for Speed: Shift video game. In 2011, the documentary that he scored, Life Lines, was judged ‘Best Foreign Film’ in Hollywood’s prestigious Action/Cut awards and in 2012 his music for the EA game Shift 2: Unleashed was nominated for another Game Audio Network Guild Award.
Stephen is a member of Northpole Music - the London-based film music collective directed by Grammy award winning film music producer Steve Mclaughlin and film composer Ilan Eshkeri. Stephen is represented worldwide by The Max Steiner Agency, Hollywood and his music is published by The Kinetic Music Group Ltd.
