FP Updates

Issue one of WET SHARDS gets sent sharp and hot to Lois Tucker tonight. So expect to see the first issue sooner rather than later. I have the first six issues of FEAR IN THE COMMUNITY mapped out. Issue one should be with Kel Winser the artist by Saturday which will free me up to complete the first play in THE DARK NIGHTS OF THE SOUL anthology. THE BOOK OF HATE is awaiting confirmation on photographers.

Expect Vittoria's first comic strip later this month, she shared the details of the story with me yesterday and it's very very funny. Again the artist on this is Kel Winser.

Expect new personal websites from Vittoria and Lois by the end of Feb.

Part of the spectrum

Picked up a discarded newspaper on my way home from work tonight. It had a section on the Holocaust. Somehow seeing a map of Europe with each country's estimated Jewish death toll right in front of my eyes brought the whole thing home a little bit more for me; put it in better perspective. Direct accounts of watching bodies burn...

Had to watch 'God Doesn't Believe in us any longer/An uns glaubt Gott nicht mehr' at work about a week ago - the first film in the 'Where to and Back again' trilogy by Axel Corti - which followed a group of people fleeing from the Nazis during WW2. It was intercut with real Nazi news footage which left me numb.

Also saw 'Bites' at the Bush Theatre on Thursday, which - amongst other things - included a scene where an 11 year old boy, brought up within the Taliban, shot a woman without really a second thought to be able to taste ice cream for the first time.

The human animal never ceases to amaze me in every way.

The Ultimate Free Spirit

For all those who query our name.

The Fool is sometimes known as the most worthless card, yet also as the most valuable one. He is the first and the last, the alpha and the omega. It represents both the fledgling beginner and the adept master. The Fool reminds us of things, sacred things, that we have forgotten or repressed. The Fool knows his or her own ignorance, thus is seen as the most wise.

The Fool represents the Negative space above the Tree of Life, the source of all things. It is the Qabalistic Zero, the Equation of the Universe, the initial and final balance of the opposites, both the father and the mother - male and female, in an abstract sort of way. The Fool is intricately linked with all 21 cards of the Major Arcana - in fact, many theorists maintain that the other Major Arcana cards are parts of the Fool's whimsical journey of self-discovery, culminating with the Number 21 World Card, bringing successful completion, accomplishment and fulfillment. Because the Fool is trusting and open to all experiences, he provides the perfect role model as we too embark on our life journey. The Fool coaxes us to walk our own path, not the path of the "herd". To trust our own inner voice, our intuition and our inner knowing and to embark on our life course with faith and a stout heart. We need trust, faith in the goodness of life and people, and an undying belief that all will work out exactly as it should.

The Fool is the ultimate "Free Spirit" - this card represents the self-actualized person, free from societal constraints, someone who is able to let go of outmoded beliefs and ideals with the courage to pursue their own special path.

Kel's Haikus

Kel Winser (FP member) has some handmade Haiku comic books for sale at kelwinser.com. Each Haiku book contains five Haikus in comic form with no dialogue. I have one and the workmanship is superb. This is a limited run, so these Haikus wont be available for long.

Auditions 23/1/05 Cockpit Theatre

FoolishPeople are holding Auditions Sunday the 23/1/05 at the Cockpit Theatre London for our 2005 Theatre/RealityHack projects.

These projects are THE DARK NIGHTS OF THE SOUL, a six part horror anthology developed in association with Richard Freeman of the Centre of Fortean Zoology. WAR GHOST a three part Ghost anthology and finally FPlab, FoolishPeople's new training and education section.

These auditions are held in association with Monkeys With Shotguns, who will also be at the Cockpit Theatre on Sunday casting for projects they are developing for 05.

I am now part of the Key 23 brood. Key 23 is an Occult group Weblog. You can read a new piece from myself at key 23 around once a month and my first piece for Key 23 is up now.

BloodRayne: The Movie

Oscar-winner Ben Kingsley will play the vampire Kagan, the evil ruler of an army of bloodsuckers, in an upcoming film adaptation of the video game "BloodRayne."

Set in 18th-century Romania, the movie chronicles the adventures of the title character, a half-vampire, half-human who has the superstrength of a monster but the emotions of a person.

Kristanna Loken, the former model who portrayed the Terminatrix in "Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines," will play the heroine, who must overthrow Kingsley's character who is also her father -- in order to save the world from the living dead.

Sounds like a 'straight to DVD' masterpiece, I for one (and no, I am not being sarcastic) can't wait to kick back and give my brain a rest whilst partaking in the very genre that nursed me through my adolescence. ;o)

Was Robert Kennedy killed by a real 'Manchurian candidate'-style assassin?

A new book claims to reveal evidence that the CIA, FBI and Aristotle Onassis hypnotised a Palestinian man into assassinating Robert Kennedy.

John Hiscock reports 18 January 2005 It happened nearly 38 years ago, but doubts and suspicions have lingered on. Now the circumstances surrounding the assassination of Robert Kennedy are being resurrected and re-examined in an attempt to establish the truth of what happened that night in the cramped pantry of a Los Angeles hotel.

New evidence has emerged and pressure is mounting on authorities to reopen the case of Sirhan Sirhan, who was convicted of the assassination and who remains in the California state prison in Corcoran.

Celebrities and journalists are joining the campaign for a federal investigation, which has been sparked in part by a new book, Nemesis, by the British author Peter Evans. Evans, who spent 10 years researching the book, has unearthed evidence to support Sirhan's contention that he was hypnotised into being the "fall guy" for the murder. Evans identifies the hypnotist, who had worked on CIA mind control programmes and who was later found dead in mysterious circumstances.
